In preparing this book for use in schools, I have drawn upon two volumes I had already pub-lished "The Book of Fables" and "The Book ofah, a sad question. Now and then some romancer would take one of them and set it forth in finer, more fantastic garb, but for the most part the form was a homely one, which did not vary greatly from one age to another. ![]()
